Kat Good

CalArts alumni, Kat Thorson Good is a creator, director and story artist working in Los Angeles.  Currently, Kat has a series in development at Walt Disney Television Animation, where she directed on Big Hero Six, the Series and Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. She also directed a short for Frederator which recently aired on Cartoon Hangover titled, Welcome to Doozy.  Prior to television, Kat was at Dreamworks Feature Animation as a story artist.  Her credits include “Kung Fu Panda,” “Megamind,” “Rise of the Guardians,”  and “Peabody and Sherman.”  Kat began her animation career at Walt Disney Feature Animation working as an animation assistant on many films that ranged from Hercules to Tarzan and Treasure Planet.  

As a huge proponent of the power of mentorship to diversify or industry, Kat participated as a mentor and mentee in WIA’s mentorship program, and then served as Vice Chair of the committee.  She also is a mentor in DTVA’s internal mentorship program.

In addition to her animation career, Kat is illustrating a line of children’s books based on the Greek zodiac and mythology. Kat is also a founding member of Play Hybrid Studios, a Montreal-based entertainment company, overseeing storytelling, look development and level design for several mobile game titles.
